KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and orchestrates pet food product development processes and systems
  • Leads the product innovation process for the TFH business unit
  • Drives high integrity in product standards, formulas, product/ingredient specifications that meet operations, regulatory, consumer/customer needs, including final product economics of production
  • Embraces existing and introduces new business processes, such as LEAN; incorporating the principles into every day work, and contributing to continuous improvement to increase their effectiveness and efficiency
  • Champion development and introduction of new product innovation for Nylabone, translating experimental and consumer learning and technical expertise into effective offering news that delights our consumers and drives profitable growth.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Creative Development team in establishing innovative products and success criteria.
  • Identify new areas for innovation, claims/nutritional potential, improved profitability and increased sustainability through 1) Maintaining a keen awareness of competitive products, and new developments in product, ingredient and processing technologies, grocery, pet specialty, mass retailer trends and other external consumer or customer trends that could influence industry and product direction. 2) Effectively incorporating these learning’s into business plans to drive new idea potential.
  • As a leader, actively participate in and influence initiatives to enhance the TFH/Nylabone organization.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION

  • BS required in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Cereal Technology, Food/Chemical Engineering or related field.  Advanced degrees MS or PH.D. in related scientific field strongly preferred
  • Strong preference for pet food development experience and animal nutrition expertise
  • A minimum of ten to fifteen years of successful product development experience in a fast-paced CPG environment.
  • Extruding experience is vital to the success in this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a product development function that drives quality and innovation, along with an entrepreneurial spirit and results orientation.
  • Must possess strong regulatory as well as food safety knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be creative, highly skilled and innovative.  Prefer a candidate in-role today.
  • Proven scientific skills, financial business acumen and mature judgment.

The Sales Manager supports the development, communication, implementation and execution of strategic plans for TFH, Nylabone and Four Paws with a focus on the Pet Specialty / BSO sales team support. The sales manager will be the brand champion in support of critical Pet Specialty and BSO sales teams and customers.   This position provides support and coordination between the brand teams and the sales team to key customers and reports to the Vice President of Sales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support communication and execution of brand go-to-market strategies and tactics
  • Attend BSO sales meetings and training
  • Attend BSO/Ind Pet Distributor sales meetings and training
  • Attend account and distributor trade shows, open house and events
  • Attend key accounts presentations to maximize sales and distributions
  • Assist to develop key sales tools to support this trade class: planograms, sell sheets, pop material, best seller lists, new item launches, promotional
  • Develop and maintain national promotional calendar
  • Review and make suggested changes to key account sku listings: Business review template
  • Attend internal strategic planning sessions, product and promotional planning
  • Communicate “field perspective” to internal teams – eyes and ears of what’s happening
  • Review  and approve Promotional plans for BSO accounts within guidelines
  • Review, manage and approve co-op / trade spend with key accounts within the BSO


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 10 years comparable sales experience
  • Strong self direction and initiative: willingness to take complete ownership of specific activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence co-workers from multiple departments and to communicate with sales team members
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills and proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of role as a pivotal support point for sales teams
  • Ability to adapt and respond to multiple incoming requests and shifting priorities
  • Independent Pet industry sales experience is a significant plus
  • Team Player
  • Self motivated
  • Able to travel extensively in the continental United States and able to travel occasionally internationally

We are currently seeking experienced marketing professionals at Manager, Senior Manager, and Director level who will assume accountability for select categories of product with responsibility for the development, management, and execution of marketing strategies to effectively achieve business plan objectives and financial goals. These positions report into the Product Marketing leadership.

Key responsibilities are in product-line marketing direction, including short-term marketing plans and long-term marketing strategy while providing information and recommendations on the most profitable strategies for the business. This includes profit objectives, sales forecasts, customer marketing programs, pricing, product line development, and line extensions and Coordination with the Research and Development and the Art and Creative departments to support a steady flow of product innovation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support marketing efforts to grow the consumer knowledge base, including research and packaging.
  • Provide leadership and transition plans related to potential re-positioning of existing TFH brands

  • Review planning and creative execution of brochures, packaging, advertising, sales promotion materials.

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Prior consumer products marketing experience for a non-foods consumer products company
  • Experience in product marketing, channel management, and product development
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and creating a collaborative environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly develop a deep knowledge of the marketplace and key accounts
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with exceptional written and verbal communication
  • High energy, results- and people-oriented, assertive/persuasive, team player
