Right Start Membership
The Right Start membersip is a limited-time, associate membership category that specifically addresses the unique concerns of emerging pet product businesses. APPA offers start-ups unparalleled access to pet industry information, people and resources you need to succeed.
Right Start Membership is open to businesses that meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must provide one (1) of the following documents as proof that they are a legal business entity in the U.S.:
-taxpayer I.D., articles of incorporation, lease agreement, or a certificate of good standing.
- Applicants must provide proof that they are actively engaged in launching a product for use by the pet or pet owner including the following:
-One (1) diagram, brochure, or other visual depiction of the product.
-One (1) letter of intent or purchase order from a supplier, pending patent, or invoice & shipping document from a direct to consumer sale.
- The pet product must ultimately be intended for sale to retailers, wholesalers, or distributors.
A $350 joining fee and and dues of $525 must be submitted prior to final Board approval.
Each application is reviewed by staff and then sent for final approval by the APPA Board of Directors. Applications submitted without all of the
required documents and payment will not be considered for final approval.
Right Start members are not eligible to exhibit at Global Pet Expo, do not have voting privileges, but do have access to all other applicable member benefits.
Members are eligible to remain in the Right Start category for one (1) dues year. At the end of that year, if eligible, the member may apply for a
Domestic Manufacturer Membership at a discounted rate.
