Webcast Series Launching early in 2007
Beginning in mid-2007, APPMA will launch a year-long educational webcast series designed to serve as a “virtual” management conference for its members. Consisting of a wide variety of web seminars, this series will cover a spectrum of informative topics all aimed at assisting members in their business practices and company growth within the industry. More details about this new series will be coming soon!

APPMA welcomes three new Directors to its Board

Press Box Summary
In 2006, APPMA and its members received coverage in more than 5,700 printed and electronic news outlets. The press coverage was wide-ranging with articles in Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Miami Herald, Grocery Headquarters and O Oprah Magazine, as well as articles posted on YouTube.com and MSNBC.com. This extensive coverage is an example of how the tremendous growth of the pet industry continues to be the hot topic to cover. For 2007, members should watch for new promotional opportunities listed in the weekly e-Update emailed every Tuesday. 

2007/2008 National Pet Owners Survey coming soon
The newest edition of the National Pet Owners Survey will be available beginning in the spring of 2007. One complimentary copy is sent to each member company. As the industry’s most comprehensive piece of consumer research, the Survey is an indispensable tool for market research on consumer purchasing habits. Proxy Notices
On January 15, proxy notices were sent by email to member companies who are eligible to participate in the election of directors to The Board as well as approve changes to APPMA’s by-laws. Questions about the proxy notices should be directed to Julia Fidenzio in the Legislative Affairs department at julia@appma.org.

2007 Industry Calendar
In December, member companies received a copy of our new 14 month 2007 calendar.  This calendar incorporates important Association and industry events including key deadlines, trade show information, and animal-related observances. It also includes current contact information for each APPMA staff member and features pet-related trends and pet owner statistics taken from the newest edition of The National Pet Owners Survey launching in 2007.

New Webcast: Protecting Intellectual Property In Preparation for Global Pet Expo

Showing new products at the Global Pet Expo? On Thursday, February 1st at 2 PM Eastern time, APPMA’s Government Affairs Group will present a Webcast on the topic of protecting your intellectual property in preparation for the Global Pet Expo. The Webcast will be conducted by Shari Klevens an attorney with McKenna Long and Aldridge, the Washington DC law firm that acts as APPMA’s government affairs consultant. Ms Klevens’ experience includes advising clients on complex patent infringement litigation and issues involving trademark, copyright, trade dress infringement, and theft of trade secrets.  To register visit www.appma.org.
