DOG-OWNING HOUSEHOLDS PEAK WITH HIGHEST NUMBER EVER REPORTED
The 2011 / 2012 APPA National Pet Owners Survey reports 46.3 million dog-owning households in the U.S.
(GREENWICH, Conn.) – Whether they’refrom shelters and humane societies or rescue groups and friends, more and more households around the country are welcoming dogs into the home. According to the 2011 / 2012 APPA National Pet Owners Survey, the total number of dog-owning households in the United States has increased one and one-half percent to 46.3 million households from 45.6 million in 2008. In addition, the percentage of households owning two or more dogs (40 percent) is the highest number reported in more than a decade.
