Andrew Darmohraj Is Promoted To Vice President & Deputy Managing Director
Greenwich, CT, April 8, 2003 — The American Pet Products Association (APPA) is pleased to announce that Andrew Darmohraj, former Director of Trade Shows and Special Events, has been promoted to Vice President & Deputy Managing Director.
In his new position as Vice President & Deputy Managing Director, Darmohraj will continue to lead the Trade Show department and oversee all aspects of trade shows, including the transition to a joint trade show with Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) in 2005. In addition, he will supervise the activities of the newly created marketing communications & diversified revenue department. The focus of the marketing communications & diversified revenue department will be to promote and advance APPA and the pet product industry through the development of an association-wide marketing communications plan as well as identifying areas that will generate revenues for the association.
Since Darmohraj’s arrival at APPA in 1997, booth space at The APPA Show has grown by 30%. The APPA Show has become the premiere event of the pet products industry and has attained a ranking in the prestigious Tradeshow Week 200 Show, which is a list of the top 200 largest trade shows in the United States and Canada, published by Tradeshow Week magazine. The APPA Show is the only show in the pet products industry to ever make it into the Tradeshow Week 200.
Darmohraj has more than 13 years of experience in association management and trade show production. Before joining the APPA staff, Darmohraj worked in management positions for association-owned trade shows in the hospitality and gift industries.
“I look forward to leading a team of professionals in serving the trade show needs of our members, while at the same time promoting the full value of APPA membership to all those involved in the pet products industry,” Darmohraj said.
Darmohraj has an M.S. in Secondary Education from St. John’s University, and a B.A. in English, from Hunter College of the City University of New York. He is an active member of International Association for Exhibition Management, the American Society of Association Executives, and serves on the San Diego Citywide Conventions Advisory Board.
Darmohraj and his wife reside in Pleasantville, New York, and have two sons.
